A New Kind of Radio

So, I've been graciously invited to join my friend Ryan on the newest form of media, internet radio.  It's a great way to communicate ideas, because we can stream voices live over the web, but we can also stream video live over the web as well.  Soon, you'll not only be able to listen to our show over the web, but you'll be able to participate in live chat, live twitter feeds, and facebook updates.  You'll even be able to call in with questions at 888 382-RADI.  We'd love for you to join us. 

Every Thursday we'll be doing "Thinking Thursdays."  It will center around how we think about our faith, how we make sense of our faith in real time, and how we can begin to ask hard questions.

Every Friday, we'll be doing Entertainment Fridays.  We'll cover movies, music, t.v. shows, websites, and every other kind of entertainment we can think about.  

So...

The question for you today is....

What do you want us to talk about?  
 What topics would help you in your faith?

Our plan is to be REAL and honest in our reviews, and make sure that we talk about real life stuff.  We won't fluff it up, or make it sound too 'churchy.'  So, comment in, and let's start talking about what fuels your fire on the new radio show with Ryan and Andy called KORKAST

Working on a New Radio Show For the Fall

  So I'm working on a new radio show for the fall with my buddy from Korministries.com.  We're planning on doing a "Thinking Thursday" show for teenagers and college students that will focus on how to know what you believe, and why you believe it.  And then we're working on an "Entertainment Friday" type of show that will review the latest music, movies, and fun stuff that we all like doing.

As we're putting this program together, I thought I'd put it out there for suggestions.  We're just in the beginning development stage right now, but it looks like castle rock radio, in Denver,  is going to put it on the airwaves in the fall.

So...what do you guys want to hear?  I'm open!! Any ideas?

BUMMER on the Radio today.

Hey guys, sorry about the radio deal today.  I'm down in Phoenix Arizona, and the station didn't take into account that Arizona doesn't do time changes.  So when I set it up they thought we were on Colorado time.  Oh Well.  That's the way life goes!!  Anyway, we'll be back next week with our first LIVE K-Colorado show.  I'll have some kids on from camp, and we'll bring you a LIVE picture of what's going on at the Durango campus.

Are we surprised our teens are confused?

We need to talk about it.

We need to help our students navigate this stuff, or; we wind up with a culture obsessed with sexuality in a way that was never intended. 

Students with an unreal expectation of sex.
Students with the guilt of sexuality before they're ready.
Kids becoming moms and dads.
Diseases spreading at a rapid rate.
And Ultimately, our sexuality linked to a failure of spiritual understanding. 

God made sex.
It's not a Taboo.
We just need to get a handle on what's going on, and for sure NOT hide our head in the sand and pretend everything is ok.

It's NOT ok.

Fight Club and SlumDog, What do they have in Common?

 Who could forget Phoebe, Monica, Rachel, Ross, Joey, and Chandler?  The mid-90's were obsessed with the lives of these six protagonists.  We watched their everymove, and modeled our lives around the friendships developed at quintessential coffee shop named "Central Perk" positioned outside Central Park In New York.

Well, today, my friends came to join me around an internet radio station.  We hung out, talked Valentine's day, and shared some thoughts about current events. It was a great show, and we now have over 900 loyal listeners.

Ok, we're testing some new ideas for 2009, and one of the coolest new features here on The Journey is a LIVE blog radio show.  Yep, you read it right.  The Journey is now in print AND LIVE via Internet radio. 

I'm going to feature a new LIVE Internet radio show for all the blog readers out there so we can create a truly interactive site. 

So this is how it works...

We're going to test it out Tomorrow at 4:00 CST.

All you have to do is come to The Journey Thursday January 8, at 4:00 and hit this button.

You'll be directed to our online Internet radio station where you can begin a LIVE web chat with me, Andy Braner, and my co-host Jarod Sickler.  We'll be talking about various youth issues, questions about pop culture, and we'll have a call in number so you can participate ON AIR!!  LIVE!

If you're not into calling in, no worries.

We'll have our Twitter account open, the Webchat open, and we'll even have a Facebook portal running so you guys can ask questions anonymously. 

Remember, It's just a test, but we think this is going to be an awesome way to have a Real Time discussion for those of you sitting around in the afternoon looking for quality conversation.  If it works out ok, then we'll have a regular scheduled time you can count on, and then launch the deal for real.
