The Lent calendar I'm following has a reading this morning from Matthew 7. Jesus was talking to a crowd of people and in the famous discourse,"The Sermon on the Mount" He began to outline the foundation of teaching. If you've never had the chance to read through Matthew 5-7, get a Bible or Google it and meditate on it today. It's an amazing section of the Bible as it begins to revolutionize the way religious people think about their posture in the world.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
Jesus gives us a picture of a God who is interested in giving. He's not a dictator God. He's not an authoritarian God demanding and oppressing. Jesus paints a picture of a God who cares for the whole of humanity. He's interested in providing, meeting needs, and giving hope to the world.
Today, take a couple of minutes in silence to reflect on the God who designed the world to live with mankind, rather than sitting on a throne living at us.
